NEWS FLASH!
The National Service Inclusion Project (NSIP) would like to extend thanks to everyone who attended our National Disability Inclusion Leadership Development Institute in Arlington, VA on December 10 - 11, 2012.
The commitment, values, and enthusiasm demonstrated by everyone who attended made for a great learning experience. It is our hope that participants will use this knowledge to engage people with all abilities- as participants in national service, as a transition from military to civilian life, and as a next step from service to employment.

The National Service Inclusion Project (NSIP) is pleased to partner with The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), the National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC), and the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL).
These partnerships will further enable all CNCS grantees to collaborate with the disability community. These disability organizations are committed to promoting national service and volunteerism as a valued option for individuals with disabilities to their respective communities. The following are brief descriptions and links to our new partners’ respective websites:
The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD)
The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of 67 university-based disability programs. Through its members, AUCD is a resource for local, state, national, and international agencies, organizations, and policy makers concerned about people living with developmental and other disabilities and their families. Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD)
With more than 2,500 members throughout the United States and internationally, AHEAD (http://ahead.org) is a professional membership organization dedicated to the provision of quality services to meet the needs of persons with disabilities involved in all areas of higher education. AHEAD also sustains formal partnerships with 30 Regional Affiliates and numerous other professional organizations.
National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC)
Maintaining a network of 130 parent affiliate organizations, NDSC (http://www.ndsccenter.org) provides information, resources and support concerning all aspects of life for individuals with Down syndrome. Please check out their awareness campaign, "We’re More Alike Than Different" (http://www.ndsccenter.org/morealike/flash/).
National Council on Independent Living (NCIL)
NCIL (www.ncil.org) is a national cross-disability, grassroots organization run by and for people with disabilities. NCIL represents thousands of organizations and individuals including: Centers for Independent Living (CILs), Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs), individuals with disabilities, and other organizations that advance the human and civil rights of people with disabilities throughout the United States.
The National Service Inclusion Project (NSIP), a Corporation for National Community Service (CNCS) training and technical assistance provider, is here to meet all of your training and technical assistance needs on the inclusion of individuals with disabilities as active participants in your national service program.

NSIP partners with the Association on University Centers on Disability, National Council on Independent Living, Association on Higher Education and Disability and National Down Syndrome Congress to build connections between disability organizations and all CNCS grantees, including national directs, to increase the participation of people with disabilities in national service.
